Tanning Bed Bulbs

Tanning bed bulbs are special ultra violet bulbs that are made to put behind acrylics. They are basically sunlight in bulb form. These are not bulbs that you will be able to find in your local hardware store as they are a higher strength bulb than the lights that they carry. Not only do tanning beds have the usual long bulbs for full body tanning, many of the newer beds have facial bulbs that are lower in intensity to keep your face from burning.

Cosmedico, Phillips, Everglow, and Focus are all companies that manufacture tanning bed bulbs, more commonly referred to as lamps. Facial tanning bulbs are lower wattage bulbs that are made for certain types of tanning beds. These bulbs are small and are big enough to only cover a person’s face when in a tanning bed. While you are supposed to wear goggles when tanning even with facial bulbs, they are safe enough to use for short periods of time without goggles.

Facial bulbs are approximately four inches in length and are made so that when placed into the tanning bed they are concave to tan both sides of your face. The price for facial tanning bulbs is relatively cheaper than the actual bulbs due to their size. Tanning bed bulbs are normally about seventy to eighty inches long. The main reason that tanning beds and bulbs are made this long is for the taller people that wish to tan. They are made to be sun in a bulb form, and therefore can get hot. Cosmedico makes tanning bulbs that are designed for certain lengths of time in tanning beds.

Their Cosmolux Cosmostar bulbs are made more for the twenty minute sessions, whereas their Goldarium Plus is made for shorter lengths for keeping bronze skin. Phillips and Everglow are the same when it comes to their types of bulbs. Each bulb is perfect for a certain length of time in sessions. Bulbs do not cost an arm and a leg like the bed itself, and it is recommended to change the bulbs as often as every month in order to ensure that people are getting a great tan each and every use.

Changing tanning bed bulbs is a regular maintenance item that needs to be done regularly in order to ensure the quality of the bed. Tanning beds are becoming the hot way to get ready for summer or vacations to the islands so that people have a base tan and do not burn in the sudden heat. If a bulb is out and someone uses the bed, they will have a nice stripe down their body under the faulty bulb’s place.
